Goal
Gym starter: the 8 foundation moves
Four weeks so you can walk into a gym knowing exactly what to do: eight foundation movements, drilled across three sessions a week, one technique detail added each week. At the end you own a session of your own instead of copying whoever is nearby.
Who it's for
People who just joined a gym or are returning after a long break and are not yet confident with weights or machines.
Example program length: 4 weeks
The path
These phases show how this goal can develop over time.
Phase 1
Learn the moves
Light loads, focus on the path of the movement and breathing. One technique cue per session, no more.
Phase 2
Add load
Same eight movements, small load steps whenever reps are completed without technique changing. The last session of this phase is the self-check, whether the block ran four weeks or eight.
Example activities in the first phase
A starting plan could include:
- Squat, chest press, row, plank
- Hinge, lat pulldown, shoulder press, bridge
- A review session touching all eight at light load
