Vertical Climber
How to adjust
- Adjust the resistance via a dial/console if the model has one; many vertical climbers have fixed resistance based on your own speed and bodyweight.
How to use
- Step onto the foot pedals and grip the handles.
- Start moving your arms and legs in an alternating climbing motion (opposite arm/leg pairs).
- Keep your body upright and core braced rather than hunching forward, controlling your pace so the pedals don't bottom out too hard.
Safety notes
- Grip the handles securely before shifting your full weight onto the foot pedals, since the whole climbing motion depends on that four-point contact for balance.
- Getting short of breath, dizzy, sweaty-handed or weak-legged means easing the cadence at once so the pedals slow, keeping a firm grip on both handles and stepping off one foot at a time — letting go mid-climb means losing your balance point as well.
- Keep movements controlled rather than letting momentum take over.
- Slow the cadence over the last few minutes and step off only once the pedals have come to a full stop and your hands are still on the handles.
