Rear Delt / Reverse Pec Deck Machine
How to adjust
- If it is a dual-function unit (one frame for both the pec deck and rear delts), swing the arms over to the rear-delt position and sit facing the chest pad before setting anything else.
- Set the seat height so the handles are at shoulder level with arms extended forward.
- Adjust the chest pad distance if the machine allows it, and set the starting position so the handles sit in front of your chest rather than leaving the shoulders pulled back before the set begins.
- Select the weight using the pin on the weight stack.
How to use
- Sit facing the chest pad, chest pressed against it, gripping the handles with arms extended forward and slightly bent.
- Exhale, open the arms back and out to the sides in an arc at shoulder height, squeezing the shoulder blades together; this is a shoulder opening, not a row toward the ribs.
- Inhale, bring the arms back forward under control.
Safety notes
- Keep the chest pinned to the pad throughout to isolate the rear delts and avoid straining the lower back.
- Control the arms coming back forward; don't let them snap.
- If you run out of strength mid-set, let the arms travel forward with the weight until the stack settles fully at the bottom, then release the handles and get up from the seat.
