Lateral Raise Machine
How to adjust
- Set the seat height so the machine arm's pivot point aligns with your shoulder joint.
- Adjust the arm pad position for your arm length, if the machine allows it.
- Select the weight using the pin on the weight stack.
How to use
- Sit into the machine, placing your upper arms against the pads on each side.
- Exhale, raise the arms out to the sides up to shoulder height by pushing against the pads.
- Inhale, lower under control, without letting the stack touch down hard.
Safety notes
- Align your shoulder joint with the machine's pivot axis before loading weight, to avoid shoulder impingement.
- Do not raise the arms past shoulder height.
- Control the arms on the way down.
- If you run out of strength, let your arms come down with the load until the stack settles, then lift them off the pads and stand up — letting go mid-range drops the pads onto your arms.
