Half Rack
How to adjust
- Insert the J-hooks into the holes on the two uprights at a height just below your shoulders when standing.
- Extend the safety arms fully to the front and set them at a height just below your lowest rep position.
How to use
- Load weight plates onto the bar while it rests on the J-hooks, and confirm there's enough space behind you to complete the full range of the lift.
- Step in from the front (the open side of the rack) to unrack the bar.
- Perform your lift, with the safety arms below in case you fail a rep.
- Re-rack the bar deliberately onto the J-hooks when you finish your set.
Safety notes
- Extend the safety arms fully and set them just below your lowest rep position before loading — with only two posts, a half rack needs the safety arms set precisely to catch an off-center bar.
- Check that both J-hooks are at the same notch before loading the bar.
- Re-rack the bar deliberately onto the hooks, never drop it.
- If you can't stand the bar back up or press it up mid-set, sink until the bar settles fully on both safety arms and duck out the front — never grind it out. After unracking, take only one step back so you always stay between the safety arms; outside their reach nothing catches the bar.
