Elliptical Trainer
How to adjust
- Adjust the incline/ramp angle (if available) and the resistance level via the console.
- On some models, adjust the stride length if that option is available.
How to use
- Step onto the footplates while they're stationary, holding the moving handles or the fixed rails, depending on the model.
- Begin moving your feet in the elliptical path smoothly.
- Adjust resistance/incline from the console; you can pedal forward or reverse to change muscle emphasis.
Safety notes
- To stop, ease your stride down and let the pedals slow themselves — the flywheel keeps them turning for a while after you stop driving. Wait until the footplates have stopped, hold the rails, wait for the plate under you to reach its lowest point, and only then step off.
- If you get short of breath, light-headed or your legs give out mid-session, drop the resistance to an easy level and pedal slowly until the machine stops; never step off while the footplates are still moving.
- Keep a light grip on the handles for balance rather than pulling hard.
- Start at a low resistance and build up.
