Curved (Non-Motorized) Treadmill
How to adjust
- There is no speed dial — pace is generated entirely by your own foot strike; the only choice is the display unit/mode on the console, if selectable.
How to use
- Hold both side rails and step onto the REAR of the belt while it is still — the back of the curve brakes the belt, so it won't lurch out from under you.
- Start walking, then running, by driving your feet down and back to move the belt yourself.
- To speed up, move your steps toward the front of the curve; to slow down, drift back toward the rear and the belt brakes itself.
- To stop, drift back toward the rear and ease down to a walk, letting the belt slow with your steps instead of planting your feet mid-belt.
- Wait until the belt has nearly stopped, hold the rails, and only then step off at the rear.
Safety notes
- A curved treadmill has no emergency stop button and no safety key to clip on: the only brake is drifting your steps back toward the rear of the belt, then waiting until it has nearly stopped, holding the rails and stepping off at the rear as well.
- Never step on or off at the front of the belt while it is still rolling, since that is where the belt accelerates and can sweep a foot backward.
- If you are out of breath or your legs start stumbling, drift straight back toward the rear so the belt slows, and ease down to a walk rather than holding the pace.
