Air Bike (Fan Bike)
How to adjust
- Set the seat height so your leg is nearly straight at the bottom of the pedal stroke; there is no resistance dial since the fan creates resistance from your own effort.
- If the saddle has a fore/aft rail, set it so that at the handlebars' farthest point your elbows stay slightly bent and you don't have to reach after them.
How to use
- Set the seat height, then grip the moving handlebars with both hands.
- Pedal while simultaneously pushing/pulling the handlebars to engage the upper body too.
- Pedaling and pushing harder and faster automatically creates more resistance from the fan.
Safety notes
- Pedal easy for the first 20-30 seconds before you push the pace, since the fan's resistance climbs steeply with speed — going all-out from the first stroke is how people strain a hamstring or blow up.
- Keep both hands on the bars for the whole set: they drive back and forth with the pedals, so letting go mid-effort can let a bar swing into you.
- When you run out of steam, wind the pace down before you take your feet off; the fan keeps spinning, so the pedals keep turning — don't try to stop them with your legs or pull a foot out while they are still moving fast.
- Wait until the pedals have stopped before you dismount, stepping off to the front or the rear rather than climbing over moving handlebars.
