Setup
Stand tall with your feet close together.
Execution
- Keeping your legs straight, hinge forward from the hips and place your hands on the floor right in front of your toes.

- Hold your body straight in the plank for 1-2 breaths.
- Walk your feet forward toward your hands, keeping the knees as straight as you can.
- Once your hands are close to your toes, stand back up to complete one round, then repeat.
Breathing
Breathe evenly with each hand and foot step, exhaling as you stand back up.
Quick cues
- Legs as straight as you can manage.
- Walk the hands in small steps.
- Brace the belly like taking a punch.
- Bend the knees if the low back pinches.
Common faults
Fault: Bending the knees a lot to make it easier to reach the floor
Fix: Keep the knees as straight as possible, accepting that the hands may only reach near the shins at first.
Fault: The hips sagging at the plank position
Fix: Brace the abs and glutes before holding the plank.
Fault: Taking hand or foot steps too large, losing control
Fix: Take small, solid steps and gradually increase the stride over time.
