Foot SMR
beginner · mobility

Setup
Sit on a chair with your shoes off, placing a small ball or round roller under the sole of your foot, right beneath the arch.
Execution
- Rest a moderate amount of foot weight on the roller, without pressing too hard right away.
- Roll slowly from the heel to the toes, pausing at the tightest or most tender spot.
- Hold at that spot for 20-30 seconds, breathing evenly.
- Shift the roller slightly side to side to find other tight spots along the arch.
- Switch feet and repeat the same process.
Breathing
Breathe slow and even; exhaling helps the sole release further.
Quick cues
- Roll slowly, pause at the tight spot.
- Moderate pressure, build up gradually.
- Hold 20-30 seconds at each spot.
- Switch feet when done.
Common faults
Fault: Pressing too hard on the first try, causing sharp pain
Fix: Take some foot weight off and build up the pressure gradually as tolerance allows.
Fault: Rolling too fast without pausing at tight spots
Fix: Slow down and stop for a full 20-30 seconds at each tight spot found.
Fault: Only rolling the middle of the arch and skipping the heel and toes
Fix: Move the roller along the full length from the heel to near the toes.
