Fast Skipping
intermediate · jump

Setup
Pick a flat, non-slip patch of floor with about two meters clear on every side and no weights or equipment underfoot. Wear cushioned shoes and stand relaxed with one foot slightly forward, ready to start the skipping pattern.
Execution
- Start with a small step-hop on the right foot, then switch immediately to a step-hop on the left, alternating continuously.
- Keep the landings light on the balls of the feet, without letting the heels slam down.
- Swing the arms opposite the legs to keep rhythm and balance.
- Gradually increase speed and step frequency after a few seconds of slow warm-up.
- Hold the fast skipping rhythm for the planned duration, for example 20-30 seconds per round.
Breathing
Breathe fast and steady with your steps, never holding your breath. Shin or ankle pain means stopping.
Quick cues
- Land light on the balls of the feet.
- Arms swing opposite the legs.
- Build speed gradually, don't rush.
- Steps small and quick.
Common faults
Fault: Landing flat-footed and heavy on the heels
Fix: Focus on landing on the balls of the feet and keeping the steps light.
Fault: Taking steps too long, losing the rhythm
Fix: Shorten the steps and increase the frequency instead of the stride length.
Fault: Speeding up too fast before the ankles are warmed up
Fix: Start slow for the first 5-10 seconds before gradually building speed.
Fault: Swinging the arms with the same side as the legs instead of opposite
Fix: Slow down to feel the correct opposite arm-leg rhythm before speeding back up.
